Who we are

Ushindi for Women Organization (UWO) is Community Based Organization (CBO) founded in 2015 by a group of women champions for women and girls’ rights in Balambala Sub-County. The organization’s aim is to enhance the rights of women and girls in Garissa County and beyond.

Our focus areas

Our strategic focus for the next coming years is anchored on a well-defined vision, mission and core values. It is from these statements that the key thematic areas for the next phase of our organization’s growth are deduced.

Latest news

Our impact

Through ushindi for women intervention in Balambala, JaraJara and Kone primary of Balambala constituency. There has been an increased enrolment of 35 girls, 10 Balambala, 15 JaraJara and 10 from Kone primary. 4 of the girls we rescued from early marriage due to our mentorship program. In 2022 total number of girls reached was 76 from three school .

International Women's Day

Ushindi for Women Organization (UWO) joined the world in celebrating the international women's day 2023. The day was marked with a colorful celebration in balambala sub county Mudey primary school in Garissa County. We emphasized on the need to reduce barriers to education in science, technology, engineering, & maths for girls in rural areas, using initiatives that increase the confidence, level of agency & decision-making abilities of our women & girls.

Stakeholder Engagement on peace and security

Ushindi for Women Organization (UWO) conducting a Stakeholder Engagement in Enhancing women participation in peace and security community structures at Galbet ward of Garissa.
The project duubed uchaguzi bila balaa is supported by Search for Common Ground Kenya (SFCG_Kenya) through funding of the European union in Kenya.
